Materials

The Materials section is the side panel on the right of the Canvas. Materials are media uploaded or generated in Superstudio. Materials can be used as Elements in Flows. They are also the media generated from a Flow.

In the Materials section you can:

  • Scroll through your Collections at the top of the Materials section.

  • Drag individual media and collections on to the Canvas.

  • Use the filter tool to sort your media by generation type, media type, and more.

The Minimap below the Materials Section shows the layout your Canvas. Use the mini map to see your Canvas holistically, scroll across the canvas, and zoom in and out.

2. Setup your Canvas and Start Creating

Add Flows and Materials to your Canvas

  • Choose a Flow and click on it in in the Flows Menu to open it on the canvas.

  • Upload images and videos by dragging your files to the Canvas.

  • Drag images and videos from the Materials section to the Canvas.

There is no limit to the number of Flows and Images you can have on a Canvas. While larger Canvases may take longer to load the number of Materials and Flows on a Canvas does not affect generation speed.

To work on multiple Canvases open each one in its own browser tab. Your generated and uploaded media can be accessed in Materials from any Canvas.

Download videos and images directly from the Canvas and from the Materials section.

To delete Material and Flows from your Canvas:

  • Individual items: Hover over the Flow, Material or Collection and click the red X, or select the item and press delete on your keyboard.

  • Multiple items: Click the Select tool, select the items you want to remove, then press delete on your keyboard.

  • Whole Canvas: Click the History icon in the Navigation bar and use the Reset Current Canvas button to clear the entire Canvas.

Reposition anything on the Canvas at any time to maintain a clear and organized workflow.

  • Hover over a Flow on the Canvas and click the Minimize Flow icon to create space on the Canvas.

  • When you’re finished with a Flow, delete it from the Canvas. You can add it back at any time by selecting Recreate Flow while hovering over any image or video created with that Flow.

  • When you’ve finished working with a collection, minimize it or remove it from the Canvas. Your Collection will be available in Materials and can be added back in at any time.

Use the timestamps in History to restore the canvas if you make any unwanted changes.

3. Organize your Materials with Collections

Collections are groups of uploaded or generated images and videos. Creating Collections enables you to organize project media, and to effortlessly move projects between Canvases.

To create a Collection, select one or multiple Materials on the Canvas and click the grid icon. Each Collection you create will appear in your Materials library. Select and drag other Materials into the Collection—there is no limit to how many you add.

When a Collection is on the Canvas you can:

  • Zoom in and out using the slider at the bottom of the Collection.

  • Scroll through the Collection use the slider on the right.

  • Expand a Collection by dragging the corners or edges of the Collection.

  • Drag Media out of the Canvas to use in Flows.

  • Rearrange the contents of the Collection.

To generate media from a Flow directly into a Collection, drag a line out from the side node in any Flow to connect with the node of a Collection. Media from that Flow will automatically generate in that collection.

You can connect multiple Flows to a Collection, and multiple Collections to a Flow. When multiple Collections are connected to a Flow, duplicates of generated Media will appear in each Collection.

To Name a Collection click on the Collection number while the Collection is open in the Canvas. Type the new name, and press enter to save. The updated name will appear with that Collection in the Canvas and in the Materials section.

To delete a collection from the Canvas select the Collection and click on the delete icon or press delete on your keyboard. The Collection will still be available in the Materials section.

To locate a Collection in the Materials section, scroll across the Collections menu at the top of Materials. Click on it to open in Materials, or drag the Collection on to the Canvas.
